When I started my marketing and PR company in August of 2000, I had been a mom for only a few months. Struggling to raise a family and run a company was not an easy task. It became more difficult once the company started to grow and I started adding employees. I searched for other moms who were juggling the same responsibilities. I posted queries with business resource sites, and I surfed the Internet using key words like “mom entrepreneurs” and “work life balance”. I found a lot of information about starting a business, but no advice on how to do it at the same time you are raising a family. In June of 2008, I decided to start The Mom Entrepreneur Online Support Group in order to bring together other mom entrepreneurs in a virtual, supportive and educational environment. The Mom Entrepreneur Online Support Group The group is very specialized. Basic Membership is free, but not all applications are accepted. Moms who are thinking about starting, have started or have been in business for many years are invited to join. Women entrepreneurs who are considering becoming a mom someday are also welcome to join. In a survey conducted July 2008, group members offered the following comments about their membership and the connections they have made:
